Yerico Umbas: "It’s a tough group for us

Meanwhile on Sunday, the national futsal team was drawn to Group D for the 2012 Asian Futsal Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from May 25 to June 1.

It will be a tough group for the team, up against the 2010 tournament’s runner-up Uzbekistan and fourth-place China. Kuwait rounds out the foursome.

The top two teams in each of four groups will advance to the round of eight.

“It’s a tough group for us, but we aim to qualify for the quarterfinals,” Yerico Umbas, the National Futsal Body (BFN) chairman, told state news agency Antara.

Indonesia qualified for the biennial tournament after finishing second in the Asean zone qualifying round, losing 3-1 to Thailand in the final at the Krungthep Thonburi Indoor Stadium in Bangkok on Feb. 26.

Defending champion Iran is in Group C with Australia, Qatar and South Korea.

Host UAE is in Group A alongside Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, while Japan, Taiwan, Tajikistan and Lebanon make up group B.
