Bradford Telegraph and ArgusFutsal tournament at Richard Dunn Sports CentreMonday 12th March 2012by
Bill MarshallOdsal's Richard Dunn Sports Centre are staging a Futsal tournament on Tuesday, March 27 (7pm-10pm) that will involve all the teams playing in the league at the Bradford venue, plus any new teams.
Futsal, recognised and supported by FIFA and UEFA, is a five-a-side game played with hockey-sized goals and a smaller ball with a reduced bounce.
Players are constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play while under pressure or in confined spaces and it places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness.
Luis Figo, Ronaldo, Messi, Ronaldinho, Robinho and Nani developed skills by playing futsal.
The FA and the West Riding County FA are putting funding into developing the game across the county, which is why the league has been set up at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre.
Further information is available from Daniel Stanley, the Get Into Football officer at the county FA on 01132-822358.
