Peterborough Evening TelegraphBookings open for new Futsal programme for Easter holidaysTuesday 13 March 2012A NEW football programme based on the fastest-growing indoor sport in the world is coming to Werrington for the Easter holidays.
Sports development organisation Sports Xtra brings Futsal Xperience to the Werrington Leisure Centre, in Staniland Way, on Thursday, April 12, and Friday, April 13.
The programme is aimed at children aged five to 11, of all levels of experience.
Futsal takes its name from the Spanish words for “Hall” – Sala and “Football” – Futbol.
It is a five-a-side game, played with hockey sized goals and a smaller ball with a reduced bounce.
The programme will cover techniques in all areas of the game and be delivered by FA trained and qualified coaches.
Sara Strid-Coughlan, of Sports Xtra Peterborough, said: “Sports Xtra provide a safe and welcoming environment where kids can play under trained supervision. We’ve tailored our programmes to ensure that our kids have fun first and foremost and get fit second.
“The new Futsal Xperience will be a great addition to our popular holiday programmes, helping kids to really get stuck in. It’s a great opportunity to do something different, make new friends, being active and learn some new skills – all while having lots of fun.”
The Futsal Xperience will run from 9.30am to 4pm. Extended hours in the morning and afternoons are available for an additional fee.
Children will need to bring a packed lunch, plenty of water to drink during the day, trainers and suitable clothing.
