County treble for South Devon's top school futsal sides

PAIGNTON Community and Sports College hosted the county's best school small-ball players at the inaugural Devon Futsal finals last week.

Three South Devon sides secured county honours in their respective age groups, against sides from across Devon. In the U12 girls' competition Churston Ferrers were beaten 3-1 in the deciding match by Paignton Community and Sports College.

The U14 boys' saw local rivals PCSC and Torquay Community College compete closely for the Devon champions status, having both picked up points against Plymstock A and B.

Clinical finishing and good technical futsal meant Torquay Community College were convincing winners 4-0.

In the U16 girls' competition, another impressive win saw the PCSC team win all three matches scoring nine goals and only conceding one.

They join their U12 counterparts they will be optimistic going into the next stage. The next stage for these six qualified teams will be the regional finals at Paignton Community and Sports College in May. The best teams from the five other neighbouring counties will compete to become the best in the South West and gain a place in the national finals of the FA Youth Futsal Cup.

Other winners were Queen Elizabeth Community College from Crediton (U16 boys), Devonport High School (U14 girls) and Hele's School (U12 boys).
