CONCACAF teams are in preparations for this year’s Futsal Championship which will also qualify four nations to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012. Here is a look at what they are doing.


COSTA RICA WINS PAIR OF FRIENDLIES AGAINST MEXICO

Costa Rica won a pair of friendlies against visiting Mexico by outscoring them 10:0. Jorge Arias, Alejandro Paniaqua, Yefrid Ruiz along with an own goal from Mexico’s Giovani Lopez gave the Ticos a 4:0 victory in the first encounter at Heredia’s Palacio de los Deportes on 29 February. Two days later (2 March) at the Gimnasio Nacional in San José, Edwin Cubillo scored twice, while Arias, Erick Brenes, Jose Guevara and Paniagua each added a goal apiece in the 6:0 triumph for Costa Rica in its seventh consecutive win over Mexico.


GUATEMALA TAKES TWO FROM MOZAMBIQUE
In its second-ever trip to Africa, defending CONCACAF champion Guatemala won both friendlies against the host Mozambique at Maputo’s Pavilhao da Academica on 25 and 26 February. Two goals each from Jose Carlos Mansilla and Rafael Gonzalez led the Chapines to a 6:1 victory in the first encounter, while the second match ended 2:1 in favor of the visitors.
