Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Marketing Committee met on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Dr Hafez Al Medlej of Saudi Arabia and took stock of commercial activities carried out by the confederation and suggested ways to enhance its brand image.

AFC Acting President Zhang Jilong stressed the importance of the committee and the key role played by it in the development of Asian football.

“This committee is very important for us because it is part of the development process and I would like you to work towards fulfilling this responsibility,” he told the members.

“We are all working together for the benefit of Asian football and I am sure the future is bright for AFC.

“Our partners World Sport Group are working hand-in-hand with AFC to improve our standards and I think we are on the right track,” he added.

Dr Al Medlej, in his opening remarks, said the year 2012 would bring more success to the confederation.
“We are nearing the end of the first quarter of 2012. I think we are heading into the right direction and hope we will achieve more success in the remaining year,” he said.

The members agreed to deliberate further on the naming conventions of AFC tournaments to ensure greater consistency and approved the appointment of Korea Republic’s Caravan ES as the official AFC Futsal Court Supplier for the year 2012-2013.

All decisions of this committee need to be ratified by the AFC Executive Committee to take effect.
