Maximo Flint-MorganJeff Hughes of the Syracuse Silver Knights was chosen for the U.S. Men's National Futsal team. As a forward for the Syracuse Silver Knights Jeff was able to provide 53 total points this season. His contribution to Syracuse's only major league team was immense as he was a ble to rack up 19 two point goals as well as nine assists to other players.
The U.S. Futsal National Team will meet for a domestic training camp from April 1-7 in Torrance, Calif., in preparation for the 2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championship.
Guatemala will host the tournament from July 2-8 in which the U.S. will attempt to qualify for the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand.
Head coach Keith Tozer has named 18 players to his roster, including two players from his Milwaukee Wave team, Nicolas Perera and Matthew Stewart. Tozer was recently named Major Indoor Soccer League Coach of the Year as the Wave won the 2012 MISL Championship for the second straight year.
The U.S. has not won the competition since 2004 when it ended an eight-year drought from its previous championship crown in 1996. Jeff Hughes was also recently invited to the Grand Prix de Futsal held in Manius, Brazil where he was also able to score some points for his squad.
Hughes' honor alongside the 2012 Rookie of The Year Slavisa Ubiparipovic, adds more recognition to what seems to be one of the MISL's most talent laden squads.
