Bangkok PostFIFA happy with stadium progress30/03/2012FIFA is pleased with construction of a new stadium for the 2012 Futsal World Cup but says the venue still needs some facilities to meet international standards.
FIFA representatives yesterday inspected the Nong Chok stadium in Bangkok. They were led by FIFA director Jaime Yarza and accompanied by Bangkok Deputy Governors Teerachon Manomaipiboon and Taya Theepsuwan.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is responsible for building the stadium.
Teerachon said the construction was ahead of schedule and the stadium would be ready in time for the tournament from Nov 1-18.
Yarza said he was satisfied with the construction but told the BMA that it should improve the lighting and security systems and car parks among other things to meet international standards.
The FIFA team yesterday also inspected the existing Indoor Stadium in Hua Mark and Nimibutr Gymnasium.
