GROUPS ANNOUNCED FOR 2012 CONCACAF FUTSAL CHAMPIONSHIP
The groups for the 2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championship were announced following the draw held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala on 12 April. Host and defending champion Guatemala, will be in Group A along side Panama, USA and the winner of the Canada-El Salvador playoff, while Group B is composed of Cuba, Costa Rica, Mexico and St. Kitts & Nevis. The schedule of matches will be unveiled in due course. The eight-team tournament will take place at Ciudad de Guatemala’s Domo Polideportivo from 2-8 July and will qualify for the first time four nations to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012.


CANADA-EL SALVADOR PLAYOFF DATES SET
The final berth to the 2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championship will be determined with a two-game playoff between Canada and El Salvador scheduled for 28 and 29 June, respectively at the Domo Polideportivo in Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala … The winner will join Panama, USA and the host in Group A of the CONCACAF tournament.

AGUSTIN CAMPUZANO LOPEZ TAKES OVER THE HELM OF PANAMA
Cuban native Agustin Campuzano Lopez was named Panama’s futsal team head coach on 12 April … The 60-year-old was an assistant coach for Cuba in three consecutive CONCACAF Tournaments (1996-2004) where the Leones del Caribe were runners-up and qualified to the FIFA Futsal World Cups.
