Iran lift WAFF Women futsal title

Manama: Iran defeated Jordan 8-1 in the final to lift the 2nd West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Futsal Championship for Women title at Khalifa Sports City on Friday.

Fahimeh Zarei and Elnaz Armat scored a brace each while Sapideh Zarrinard, Fatemeh Etedadi, Fereshteh Karimi and Naghmeh Moradi scored a goal apiece for the winners. Jordan’s Enshirah Al Hyasat scored a consolation goal in the 13th minute.

Hosts Bahrain finished third in the seven-team competition beating Lebanon 8-5 in the third-place playoff. The participating countries of the 10-day competitions were Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar and Palestine.
