All AfricaFutsal National Team Returns From Mozambique16 April 2012The South African Futsal (Indoor Soccer) National Team has arrived back in the country after playing two international friendly matches in Mozambique against the host country.
The clashes took place on the 14th and 15th April 2012, with South Africa losing both encounters four-one (4-1) and seven-three (7-3) (
Futsalplanet note: 7-4 according to our informations) respectively.
Futsal National Team coach, Quinton Allies, believes this was a good run for his team since they have been out of action as a national for some time now.
"Mozambique is ranked above us in the world when it comes to this sport, so it was important to play against them to get the necessary experience. I think my team played to the best of their ability, and from here we know where to rectify to get our national team where we want it to be. We will be starting with the qualifiers in a few months, so it's crucial that we keep on playing such matches so we are not found rusty by our opponents. What we need is consistency in these training camps, and I believe with time it will come," said Allies.
The matches were used to prepare the team for the upcoming FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifiers.
The FIFA Futsal World Cup is scheduled to take place in Thailand from 1 - 18 November 2012.
