Hereford United FCHereford United Futsal ScholarshipFri 27 Apr 2012Hereford United are launching their very own Education and Futsal Scholarship due to start in September 2012.
The club are looking to recruit 20 boys and 20 girls between the ages of 16 and 17 to become part of a new scholarship programme that will be based at the Point4 Arena in Hereford.
The Futsal and Education Programme delivers a first class, full time education programme alongside professional coaching and the opportunity to play competitive Futsal fixtures against other professional football clubs.
The programme aims to provide multiple exit routes for students aged 16-17 which include university courses and Qualifications to progress in the employment world, with also opportunities to develop their technical ability with the ever growing popular game of Futsal.
The 20 players selected follow the same pattern as Hereford United Scholars but train in Futsal each day, as well as representing the club against Futsal scholars from other professional clubs in the Futsal National Youth League. Current clubs competing include Cardiff City FC, Bristol City FC, Derby County FC as well as many others.
Players will be enrolled onto a BTEC Level 3 Course in Sport which is the equivalent to 3 A-Levels, allowing players the opportunity to apply for university places from their Education and Futsal Scholarship. Taken over a 2-year period, the course will combine 8 hours of theory-based classroom work, and 6 hours of practical training time per week.
An open day is to take place on Tuesday May 15th from 6.30- 8.30pm at the Point4 Arena, to provide interested players with the opportunity to meet the club staff involved, with a fixture being arranged between two top Scholarship Teams to show all what the Education and Futsal Scholarship can provide.
