‘Korat’ prepared for Futsal World Cup

Sunday 29 April 2012

At the beginning of this month, the Chairman of the LOC, Suwat Liptapanlop, and the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, Chuan Sirinuntaporn, held a meeting with the region’s government and private sector heads to continue preparations for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012.

Nakhon Ratchasima, known as ‘Korat’, is one of two venues - along with Bangkok - which will host the tournament, which takes place from 1-18 November.

Sirinuntaporn used the meeting to encourage those in attendance to co-operate with FIFA requirements and ensure the event is of a world standard.

“Korat as the second biggest city of Thailand will do its best to represent the country as the best host to welcome all participants from the world of futsal and sport,” said Sirinuntaporn.

More than USD2million has been spent to reconstruct the Korat Chatchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima according to Liptapanlop, who assured the meeting that plans are developing on schedule.

“We are working for our meeting with FIFA inspectors in the first week of May and are looking forward to working hard for this FIFA Futsal World Cup,” he added.
