MFA 1st Division Futsal League enters play-offs stage

After the round robin series of matches in the ten-team MFA 1st Division Futsal League the competition has now entered the decisive play-offs stage to determine the destination of the championship for season 2011-2012.

During the month of May the first four-placed teams in this order, Excess RP Bidnija Futsal, Naxxar Motors Futsal, Paola Downtown FC and White Eagles Mosta FC will be involved in a best-out-three semi-final matches (1 v 4 and 2 v 3), with the winners proceeding to the final, again to be contested on a best-of-three basis.

The matches played so far have generated much interest among the teams’ clans and their supporters as Excess RP Bidnija just edged Naxxar Motors by a single point, followed by Paola Downtown and White Eagles. The semi-final play-offs, to be played by 11 May, will be followed by the final, with the first two matches scheduled for 21 and 25 May and a possible third encounter on 1 June in case the tie is still undecided.

So, everything points to a crescendo, with the contestants opening their full throttle in a bid to win the top honour in this season’s Futsal league, organised by the MFA Futsal Department.
