Gulf Daily NewsAl Ahli and Sitra make winning startsTuesday, May 08, 2012AL AHLI and Sitra clubs scored resounding victories over Bahrain Specialist Hospital and Al Shabab Club, respectively, in the First Bahrain Five-A-Side Futsal League.
On the second day of the league, staged at the Khalifa Sports City's Gym in Isa Town, favourites Al Ahli scored an emphatic 10-2 win as they made easy work of their opponents in Group 'B'.
Al Ahli, who took a 5-1 lead at the break, dominated the game right from the start for a well-earned victory.
Bashar Abdulla was the hero for Al Ahli, scoring four goals, while Mustafa Yaqoub contributed with a hat-trick.
Isa Bahram (2) and Hassan Mohammed were also on target for the victors, while Abdulwahab Ali and Ghassan Abdulghani scored for the losing team.
Sitra Club followed suit, defeating Al Shabab 11-4 in another one-sided game in Group 'C'.
Ahmed Antar fired six times, while Mohammed Makki (2), Abdulla Marhoon, Hassan Ali and Isa Ahmed were also on target.
Hat-trickAhmed Abduljalil scored a hat-trick for Al Shabab, with Saeed Al Kaddad being the other goal scorer.
The third and last game of the day, also within Group 'C', saw Interior Minister and Samsung Company battle to a 3-3 draw.
Mustafa Abdullatif, Ahmed Abood and Majeed Khalil scored for the Interior Ministry, while Samsung goals came from Rashid Zuayyed (2) and Mohammed Mahmood.
Majestic Cars, Benefit and Khaleeji Commercial Bank (KCB) kick-started their campaigns earlier this week with respective wins over Information Affairs Authority (IAA), Manama Club and East Riffa Club.
The league resumes on Saturday with three matches on the cards. Defence Force Ministry take on Al Hala at 3pm, then Um Al Hassam encounter Gosi at 4.45pm, while Benefit meet IAA at 6.30pm.
Twenty teams, representing clubs, companies, banks and ministries, are competing in this first-ever futsal league being organised in Bahrain.
Participants were divided into four groups of five teams, with each group winners and runners-up making it to the quarter-finals.
