All AfricaSouth Africa: Futsal National Team Two Rounds Away From World Cup Qualification15 May 2012The South African Futsal National Team is continuing preparations ahead of their first round second leg clash against neighbours Zimbabwe in the FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifiers.
The South Africans are confident of progressing to the second round of the World Cup qualifiers after securing a four - two (4-2) victory over the Zimbabweans in the first leg encounter played at the Wembley Stadium in Turffontein, south of Johannesburg.
The second leg will return to the Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 19 May 2012 following a request from Zimbabwe who is still renovating their pitch.
Kick-off is at 18h00.
The overall winner will face Libya in the final round of the qualifiers set for next month on the weekend of 8 - 10 June 2012.
The South African Futsal National Team is preparing at the match venue.
The 16-member national team knows the challenges that lie ahead.
"The preparation plan is already in motion, and we want to face Zimbabwe with a winning mentality, and continue from where we left off in the first leg. We want to ensure we that we keep our lead and progress to the next round of the qualifiers," said Quinton Allies, head coach of the South African Futsal National Team.
"We had a good match in the first leg, but a very difficult one at the same time as they are a strong side. But now we know what we need to do as we have studied their playing style. This week is all about rectifying some minor errors that we saw in the previous match and ensure we don't repeat them so we can get to the next round."
Allies is also concerned about the two goals scored by Zimbabwe, and will work on the team's defence while pushing for more goals.
Zimbabwe is expected in South Africa on Friday, 18 May in the morning.
Only three African countries will represent the continent at the 7th edition of the FIFA Futsal World Cup scheduled to take place in Thailand from 1-18 November 2012.
