Lions tamed by Helvecia in final

OXFORD Lions are officially the second best Futsal team in the country after finishing runners-up at the FA National finals.

After qualifying by winning the Midlands League at their first attempt, Lions reached the final after winning their group on goal difference following a 9-4 win over Manchester and 5-2 defeat at the hands of Genesis.

However, they were then beaten 5-2 by four-time champions Helvecia and were forced to settle for the runners-up medals at the tournament in Barking.

They did have the consolation of Lucas Totti voted as the player of the tournament.

Lions’ achievements will now play against Helvecia at the Grassroots Football Show at the Birmingham NEC on May, 27.
