Futsal eight learn their fate

Hosts Sporting Clube de Portugal have been handed an intriguing draw for the finals of the first UEFA Futsal Cup.

Roma test
Thursday's draw in Lisbon placed them in Group A with AS Roma, MNK 1700 Split and MNK Kaskada Gracanica. In common with Sporting, Roma and Split came through their qualifying group in style, winning all their games. The match between Sporting and Roma will also have added spice because of the club's proud eleven-a-side traditions.

Castellón confident
In Group B, Playas de Castellón will be hoping emulate the feat of the Spanish national side who won the third UEFA European Futsal Championship last year. They will be one of the favourites for the tournament and have been drawn alongside Action 21 Charleroi, Clearex-Chorzòw and CSÖ-Montage Budapest FC.

Top two go through
The finals will be played in Lisbon from 25 February to 3 March. The eight teams will each play their three group opponents once with the winners and runners-up then qualifying for the semi-finals. All earned their place after a qualifying tournament involving 27 five-a-side teams representing their respective national associations.
