Betong grab both S’wak Cup futsal titles

KUCHING: Teams from Betong division swept both the men’s and women’s titles in the Sarawak Cup futsal competition held at the State Indoor Stadium yesterday.

In the men’s category which attracted 12 teams, Velocity the team representing Betong division edged past Kuching’s War’s 15 by a single goal in the final.

Betong Bankers made it a clean sweep for the division by disposing of Melda FC of Samarahan 2-0 in the final of the women’s category to emerge top among the six teams taking part.

FBSB of Miri finished third in the men’s category while team Bernas of Kuching took the bronze in the women’s category.
Sarawak Futsal and Beach Soccer Association and Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) were joint organisers of the tournament.

“I am happy that the tournament was a success. We are looking forward to organise the next tournament after this,” said Mohamad Fuad Mohamad Sapri, Secretary of Futsal and Beach Soccer Development Committee of Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) to The Borneo Post yesterday.

FAS President Datu Sudarsono Osman presented the prizes of cash and trophies to the winners.
