Al Shabab post maiden Futsal League victory

AL SHABAB Club picked up their maiden victory in the First Bahrain Futsal League, being held at Khalifa Sports City's Gym in Isa Town.

The team recovered from their 4-11 defeat to Sitra in Group 'C' opener with a crucial 4-2 win against the Interior Ministry, to revive their chances in the competition.

Ali Abdulla fired a brace, while Mohammed, Saleh and Ahmed Abduljalil scored one goal apiece for the victors, who now have three points from two matches and are currently in fourth position.

The Interior Ministry team, whose goals came from Ahmed Abood and Khalifa Faisal, stayed in second place with four points as they were dealt their first defeat in three games.

In another game, the General Organisation for Social Insurance (Gosi) defeated Nomas 3-1 for their first win after three matches in Group 'D'.

Hamad Abdulnabi, Abdulla Taqi and Ali Bukhammas were on target for the Gosi team, who are now on three points and jumped into third place.

Sayed Mohammed was the only goal scorer for Nomas, who remained in second place with three points.

The last game in the day ended 4-2 for Al Hala against Um Al Hassam, also in Group 'D'. It was the first win in three games for Al Hala, who bounced back into the championship.

Faouzi Kuayyed and Abdulaziz Bukhammas scored a brace each for Al Hala, who were down 0-1 at the break. Mohammed Mousa scored both goals for Um Al Hassam, who suffered their second defeat in three matches.

League action continues on Sunday with three matches on the cards. The Interior Ministry team take on Al Shabab in Group 'C' clash at 4.45pm.

It will be followed by two matches in Group 'D' as Gosi challenge Nomas Projects at 6.30pm, and Um Al Hassam encounter Al Hala at 8.15pm.

There are 20 teams representing clubs, companies, banks and ministries lined-up for Bahrain's first ever futsal league, being sponsored by www.Kooora.com and Sport K.

The teams were divided into four groups of five, with each group winners and runners-up advancing into the quarter-finals.
