Iran into AFC Futsal Championship semi-final

Iran maintained its 100 percent winning record in the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship after beating Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

The 10-time continental champion defeated Uzbekistan 6-3 in Dubai’s Al-Shabab Stadium and set up a semi-final showdown with Thailand.

Hamid Ahmadi scored a brace for Iran in the 4th and 39th minutes. Ahmad Esmaeilpour (7), Ali-Asghar Hassanzadeh (19), Mohammad Taheri (23) and Hossein Tayebi (32) scored for the Asian powerhouse as well.

Uzbekistan’s Shuhrat Tojiboev struck twice in the 22nd and 28th minutes and Dilshod Irsaliev found back of the net in the 39th minute.

Iran is so face Thailand on Wednesday in the semi-final round in Dubai’s Al Wasl Stadium.

Ali Sanei’s team has defeated South Korea, Qatar and Australia in the group stage.
