AFC Futsal Championship UAE 2012: Iran Takes Third Place after 4-0 win over Australia

Iran ensured direct entry to the next edition of the tournament following a hard-fought 4-0 win over Australia in the AFC Futsal Championship UAE 2012 third-place playoff on Friday.

Iran was stunned by Thailand in the semi-final round of the AFC Futsal Championship 2012 in Dubai, the UAE on Wednesday. The 10-time continental champion, who had defeated South Korea (14-1), Qatar (8-0), Australia (9-0) and Uzbekistan (6-3), lost to Thailand 5-4 in the added time at the Al Wasl Stadium.

This was the second time in the history of the games that Iran has forfeited the crown. And both times Japan has stepped in to take the crown.


Japan Takes The Crown
Japan were crowned AFC Futsal Championship UAE 2012 champions with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Thailand at the Al Wasl Indoor Stadium on Friday as the East Asians took the coveted title for a second time.
