Futsal stream pulls in the fans

Kuala Lumpur: The live streaming of the AFC Futsal Championship UAE 2012 has proved a massive hit with fans in Asia and beyond with online coverage of matches in the 16-team tournament generating almost half-a-million page views.

The exact figure of ‘Total Views’ is 489,229 while the number of ‘Unique Viewers’ stands at 227,592.

Amongst the highlights of the thrilling eight-day even in Dubai enjoyed by the online viewers, as well as those watching live and on regular broadcasts, were Yusuke Komiyama setting the tournament record for the quickest goal when he scored just 32 seconds into Japan’s 6-1 victory over Tajikistan; hosts UAE defeating Turkmenistan 3-1 on their finals debut; and Thailand’s epic extra-time win over ten-time champions and title favourites Iran.

Japan outclassed Thailand 6-1 in the final as the East Asians won the trophy for the second time following their 2006 triumph.
