Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Football Association (Safa) has thanked the AFC for choosing the Malaysian state of Sabah as the venue for the first AFC Futsal Level 1 Coaching Course, a move that the football body believes will improve the Malaysian game.

The course ran from June 9 to 14 and was attended by 20 selected potential coaches from Sabah aimed at educating and developing potential futsal coaches in the nation with proper futsal information.

AFC Head of Futsal Competitions and Development Ali Targholizadeh from Iran was the chief instructor in the course assisted by Chiew Chun Yong and Mohamad Dali Wahid, both from Malaysia.

Chairman of Safa Futsal and Beach Soccer Yamani Hafez Musa has spoken positively about the course which will train coaches become more proficient in their work and hoped more such opportunities would be offered in the future.

“I strongly believe that this coaching course will be able to develop more potential futsal coaches in Sabah and these coaches are going to be responsible to train and produce more men and women futsal players in the state and nation in near future,” he said.

“We would like to thank the AFC and Football Association of Malaysia for their approval for this course and wish to see more coaching courses introduce in Sabah to raise the standard of futsal.”
