Guatemalan Futsal Team drops two friendlies against Brazil

The Guatemalan Futsal Team dropped two friendlies against host Brazil over the weekend.

Three goals by Daniel and one each from Dyego, Ferraro, Gadeia, Neto, Rodrigo gave the four-time world champion an 8:1 victory over Guatemala in the first encounter held at the Ginásio Poliesportivo Renato Veloso in Marabá on Thursday. Humberto Armando Escobar had the only goal for the defending CONCACAF champion in the loss.

Three days later, Alan Josue Aguilar gave the Chapines the lead early, however the Samba Kings unbeaten streak extended to 42 matches after consecutive goals by Dieguinho, Ferrao and Marcenio led them to a 3:1 triumph at Rio Branco’s Ginásio Rui Lima do Nascimento.

Prior to the Brazilian trip, Guatemala lost three matches in Spain against local sides: Martorelli, 4:3 (4 June), National Team of Cataluña, 7:5 (6 June) and Barcelona B, 6:4 (9 June).

The Chapines are in final preparation to stage the fifth CONCACAF Futsal Championship at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City from 2-8 July, where will meet Panama, USA and the winner of the Canada-El Salvador playoff series in Group A. Group B is composed of Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico and St. Kitts & Nevis.

The eight-team tournament will qualify for the first time four nations to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012.
