Prensa Latina NewsCuba Ready for World Futsal Event in GuatemalaHavana, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's team will test its speed and skills at the Concacaf World Cup preliminaries starting July 2 in Guatemala in group B along Costa Rica, Mexico and St. Kitts and Nevis.
Coach Clemente Reinoso leads the team that will try and qualify for its fifth World Cup with goal keeper Wilfredo Carbo plus Yuliet Olivera, Carlos Madrigal, Yampier Rodriguez, Isven Roman, Fernando Chapman, Eduardo Morales and Yone Starling.
The team is also made up of neophytes Danilo Torres, Denis Marquez, Reinier Socarras, Rinal Ebosque, Luis Yunier Portal and Bretne Suarez.
As coaches are Osvaldo Diaz, Freddy Herrera (assistant), Gregorio Morales (goal keeping coach), William Michell (physiotherapist) and Lazaro Vila as president of the delegation.
This team has just played in Havana three friendly games with Panama -scored one win and two ties with ten goals and eight goals against. Reinoso said the games helped rate the team's readiness in one-to-one marking and the pressure was felt in their delay to counterattack.
The remaining teams -Guatemala, Panama, the US and Canada or El Salvador will play a Round Robin tournament on June 28 and 29 in Guatemala City.
Cuba is the Concacaf number two and has played the latest four Futsal World Cups.
