The AFC.comArdus 2-6 All SportsMonday, 02 July 2012Kuwait City: Debutants All Sports of Lebanon shocked tournament favourites Uzbekistan’s Ardus 6-2 to go atop the Group B table in the AFC Futsal Club Championship on Monday.
Fresh from their win over defending champions Nagoya Oceans on Sunday, there were high expectations from the perennial under achievers Ardus this time around but All Sports dashed their hopes in the last minute of the match.
Khaled Takaji and Ali El Homsi scored two goals apiece while Ali Tneich and Spaniard Rafael Marques were also on the scoresheet as All Sports went atop the table with four points from two matches. Ardus’ goals were scored by Shlema Andrey and Brazilian Jhonathan Hernandez.
Spurred by Sunday’s win over Nagoya Oceans, Ardus were on course to record another victory when Artur Yunusov played a brilliant one-two with Dilshod Rakhmatov to score Ardus’ opener in the 14th minute.
Tneich brought the match at level four minutes into the second half and Ardus’ free fall started afterwards.
“The players were nervous after they scored the opener in the 29th minute,” conceded Ardus coach Alexander Petrov.
“Maybe we were overtly committed against Oceans on Sunday but by saying so I am not making an excuse for our poor show and All Sports’ excellent win. All the sides playing here are great sides so there is no favourite tag and today we got defeated by a better side.
“Our goalkeeper could have saved at least one goal but I am not going to blame him. It’s the on-field players who need to take the blame for this defeat,” he said.
The turning point of the match came in the 29th minute when Takaji scored All Sports’ second goal followed by Homsi’s strike two minutes later. Ardus did pull one back in the 32nd minute from Hernandez but with time running out they needed to resort to power play and the Lebanon players made full use of the Uzbek adventure by scoring three goals in the 40th minute alone.
“We played well in the first half but in the second half the boys were exceptional,” said All Sports coach Dory Zhkhour. “If you forget the scoreline, it was an evenly contested match and a hard fought win,” he added.
“It’s great to beat a strong team like Ardus who defeated Oceans yesterday. We are a new club in futsal and in two years' time of its establishment we got promoted from B division and ultimately won the league and we are here playing against the cream of Asia, so I hope we keep on playing good futsal in this highly competitive tournament,” he told reporters.

The AFC.comGH Bank 2-5 Nagoya OceansMonday, 02 July 2012Kuwait City: Defending champions Nagoya Oceans recovered from their Sunday’s opening match defeat against Uzbekistan’s Ardus by collecting all three points against Thai champions GH Bank following a 5-2 win in the AFC Futsal Club Championship on Monday.
Peruvian forward Morioka Kaoru scored a first half double while Japanese international Tomoki Yoshikawa added one more before the break while Tomoki Watanabe and Wataru Kitahara also grabbed a goal apiece for the reigning champions. Panomkorn Saisorn and Suphawut Thueanklang scored for GH Bank.
In the fiery first half, the combination of Japan international Kenichiro Kogure and Kaoru created much trouble for the Thai champions as Kogure set up both of Kaoru’s goals inside the first five minutes to put Oceans in the driver’s seat.
GB Bank coach Rakphol Sainetngam termed the defeat as ‘unfortunate’. “The score looked flattering and it’s unfortunate but we deserved something from the match,” he said.
“We controlled the match and created some good chances, much of the blame goes to those two early goals which could have been avoided,” he said.
Asked whether he missed his Brazilian suspended player Carlos Edurado Oliveira Silva who was red-carded on Sunday’s match against All Sports, Sainetngam stressed that his young side were ready enough to replace Silva.
“Not really, of course Carlos brings a different proposition to the team but our young boys today fought bravely throughout the match,” he said.
GH Bank immediately reduced the deficit after Kaoru scored his second goal when Saisorn connected a through pass from Ekkaphan Suratsawang to make it 2-1.
Oceans were in no mood to let the match go from their grasp as Yoshikawa made it 3-1 with a long-range effort. The Thais again showed their fighting spirit by scoring two minutes from the first half when Thailand international Krtsada Wongkaeo brilliantly fed Thueanklang as the first half ended 3-2 in favour of the Oceans.
The Thais continued pressing hard and unfortunately hit the upright twice before folding tamely later after coach Sainetngam relied on powerplay with four minutes remaining against the organised Japanese.
“They are an organised side with some really good players so we needed to be creative and clever to take control over the match,” Oceans’ Portuguese coach Jose Amarante said.
“After the early hiccups in the tournament, we badly needed this win but it was a difficult match against a very good side.
“I saw Lebanon’s All Sports playing this morning and I can tell you that they are one of the best sides in the tournament, we need to be very careful tomorrow while facing them,” he added.

The AFC.comAl Rayyan 0-7 Sanaye Giti PasandMonday, 02 July 2012Kuwait City: Iran’s Sanaye Giti Pasand recorded yet another one-sided victory in the AFC Futsal Club Championship after thumping Al Rayyan of Qatar 7-0 on Monday.
With their second consecutive victory in the tournament, Giti Pasand virtually booked a place in the semi-final with a match to spare while Al Rayyan’s hopes are still alive following their first day’s win over hosts Yarmouk SC.
Giti Pasand, who downed Vietnamese debutants Thai Son Nam 8-0 in the opener, continued from where they left off netting four goals in the first half alone.
Afshin Kazemi continued his fine goalscoring run in the tournament with a brace while two own goals by Al Rayyan handed Iran a 4-0 lead. Iran international Ahmad Esmaeilpour, Yousuf Hamidreza and Sajjad Bandi Saadi also added a goal apiece for their side, who will face hosts Yarmouk in Tuesday’s last match of the group stage.
“I have earlier stressed that our approach would be the same regardless of the opponents,” Giti Pasand coach Afzal Alireza told reporters after the match.
“We played a great game yesterday and our players continued the same tempo today, our philosophy is to work hard and try to collect as many points as possible before we move into the bigger stages later,” he added.
Asked whether his side would take Yarmouk lightly specially after sealing a place in the semi-final, Alireza stressed, “A championship chasing side never take any match easily, our approach would be the same.”
Al Rayyan, who had recorded a hard fought 5-3 win over hosts Yarmouk on Sunday, were looking like chasing the shadows of the Iranian players as goals flooded in during the first period of the match.
After initially holding Giti Pasand players, Al Rayyan conceded the first goal to Esmaeilpour and rampant Giti Pasand added three more within the first 10 minutes.
There were periods in the match where Al Rayyan had some breather but the Iranians totally controlled the proceeding which saw Saad Bilal getting a red card in the 17th minute and Spanish import Carlos Corvo limping off in the later part of the match.
“We did not have the beginning we wanted specially conceding three goals in three minutes,” Al Rayyan’s Spanish coach Juan Antonio said.
“Our players were kept under pressure from the beginning and we never recovered from that despite holding them for a longer period in the second half.
“Now we have a do or die fixture against Thai Son Nam and I am confident that the next tie will be a different ball game. We know it won’t be easy as still there are chances for all the sides of the group to get qualified.”

The AFC.comThai Son Nam 0-6 Yarmouk SCMonday, 02 July 2012Kuwait City: Hamad Hayat fired two goals as the local supporters finally had something to cheer about after clinical Yarmouk eased through a 6-0 win over Vietnam’s Thai Son Nam in the the AFC Futsal Club Championship on Monday.
Kuwait national futsal team player Hayat scored a brace while his club and national team mate Abdulrahman Altawail had a hand in Yarmouk's first goal and created two chances to dash the hopes of the debutants Thai Son Nam who are mathematically still not out but only a miracle could keep them in the tournament having conceding 14 goals in the first two matches without scoring one.
Yarmouk will face Iranian champions Sanaye Giti Pasand in Tuesday’s crucial match while Thai Son Nam will take on Qatar’s Al Rayyan at the Al Arabi Stadium.
An own goal by Nguyen Bao Quan broke the deadlock just a minute before the halftime and Hayat scored two in the 31st and 38th minutes after Altawail got Yarmouk’s second in the 29th minute. Hamad Alawadhi also added one for the local champions in the 33rd minute.
Altawail, who was by far Kuwait’s best player in the recently concluded AFC Futsal Championship where Kuwait finished fifth to book a berth in the FIFA Futsal World Cup, saw his shot deflected off Quan after he sprinted down the channel to finish from the tight angle which hit Quan before going inside Thai Son Nam’s net. He finally registered his name in the 27th minute through a powerful long-range shot before Hayat’s double.
“When we had chances we missed but when they had theirs, Yarmouk converted,” rued Thai Son Nam coach Sergio Gargelli. The Italian was philosophical about the problem of the Vietnamese futsal team’s incapability to play well when they travel out of the Asean region stressing that physical strength is a stumbling block to the progress of Vietnamese futsal.
“Anyway, we were up against a good home side who were also desperate to win and once we went down, obviously we needed to be more adventurous and they capitalised on it,” he said.
After taking a 2-0 lead, Yarmouk were in complete control of the match setting up a mouth-watering Tuesday’s clash against Iran’s Sanaye Giti Pasand.
“Our players were more composed today unlike how they approached the Al Rayyan match with nervousness yesterday,” 33-year old Brazilian coach of Yarmouk Eder De Souza told reporters.
“We must replicate today’s performance against Giti Pasand tomorrow. Sometimes it’s good to face a stronger team so my players are not afraid.
“I have the luxury of using either one of my foreign players but I will only decide who I am going to start against Giti Pasand before the match tomorrow,” he added.
