This is the third meeting between the two teams, with the USA winning the last two encounters, while outscoring Canada 15:3 … However, it is the first time the North American rivals are facing off in CONCACAF play … In their last meeting, three goals by Joel Shanker led the Stars & Stripes to a 5:3 win over visiting Maple Leafs during the 2003 Futsal Goal Cup in Anaheim, California … The USA is coming off a 5:2 defeat at the hands of Panama in the Group A opener on Monday … The loss is the 12th consecutive (overall) for the Stars & Stripes … Meanwhile, Canada dropped a 7:3 decision to tournament host Guatemala in their group encounter.

This is the second time these two meet at Ciudad de Guatemala’s Domo Polideportivo, with the host posting a 12:3 victory, in the last encounter, during the Central American qualifying to the 2007 Pan American Games … Manuel Adrian Aristondo and Erick Acevedo scored three goals each in the Chapines victory … Guatemala is coming off a 7:3 triumph against Canada in their Group A encounter on Monday … Forward Humberto Armando Escobar led the offense with four goals, which is the most by a Guatemalan player in a CONCACAF Futsal Tournament match … The Chapines’ extended their unbeaten streak in CONCACAF tournament play to six games … Meanwhile, Panama opened Group A by earning its first-ever victory over the USA, 5:2 … Forward Miguel Lasso scored four times, which is a record for the Canaleros in a CONCACAF Futsal match.

First meeting between the two teams, with Mexico holding a 5-2-1 overall record against Caribbean sides … Mexico is coming off a 4:4 draw in its Group B opener against Costa Rica on Monday … Defender Miguel Angel Limon scored twice, midfielder Francisco Cati and defender Miguel Angel Limon each added another for the Tricolores, who extend their unbeaten streak to four CONCACAF tournament matches under the direction of Ramon Raya … Meanwhile, St. Kitts & Nevis played its first futsal match on Monday in the 10:0 loss to Cuba … Jeffery Hazel’s squad trailed 2:0 with three minutes remaining in the first half, however Cuba scored eight unanswered for the victory.


CUBA – COSTA RICA
This is the 14th time the squads face-off however it is fourth meeting during the CONCACAF Tournament … Costa Rica leads the series 7-1-5 and also has a perfect 3-0-0 ledger against Cuba in tournament play … The last encounter at the CONCACAF event was at the 2000 Championship Match when goals from Juan Rafael Valverde and current head coach Diego Solis gave the host Ticos a 2:0 triumph over the Leones del Caribe for their first title … Costa Rica won the last overall meeting, a friendly, by a score of 2:1 in La Habana, with goals from Daniel Carrera and Jorge Villalobos, while Reinier Socarras had the only tally for Cuba on 16 September 2011 … Costa Rica is coming off a 4:4 draw against Mexico in its Group B opener on Monday, while Cuba posted a 10:0 win against St. Kitts & Nevis.

The four semifinalists of the CONCACAF Tournament will earn the final qualifying berths to the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup that will place in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 1-18 November … The CONCACAF Representatives will join the following qualified nations to complete the 24-team field: Host - Thailand; Africa (CAF) – Egypt, Libya, Morocco; Asia (AFC) – Australia, Iran, Japan, Kuwait; Europe (UEFA) – Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Ukraine; South America (CONMEBOL) – Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay; Oceania (OFC) – Soloman Islands.
