CEFA NEWSLETTER NUMBER 13/ SEPTEMBER 2003
CEFA NEWS:
The final preparation phase of the first CEFA Tournament in Montreux is well underway, and the excitement is mounting. Currently, teams from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, England, Belgium, France, Hungary, Spain, Moldova and Nigeria have confirmed their participation. A total of twenty teams will be playing in what is going to be a highly competitive tournament. On a national level, a junior tournament is being planned for February 2004 in the same venue, the fabulous Omnisport de Pierrier in Montreux. In both instances, we would like to thank Rapid Montreux and the Swiss Football Association for their invaluable assistance and support.
FUTSAL NEWS AUSTRIA:
The Czech national Futsal team have held a training camp in Austria from August 22nd to 24th, as a preparation for the World Cup Qualifying rounds, in which they will face Romania and Israel. The Czech team clearly is the favourite of this group, since they made an impressive 3rd place at the European Cup.
The Czech national team had come to Austria by an invitation from the Football Association of Steiermark (Dr. Wainig) and the leading man of Futsal in Austria, Alfred Schloyer, who worked as an intermediary.
On Saturday, the 80 participants of the coaches’ seminar had the opportunity to gain inside information on the art of Futsal directly from one of Europe’s top teams. Among them were Austrian Football Association’s (ÖFB) vice president Garnter – who is also the organism’s Futsal-delegate – and its national coach for the junior levels, Walter Knaller. A coaches’ delegation from Kärnten was also present, as well as the director of the Austrian Association of Sports for the Hearing-Impaired (Deafsport), Herbert Kanai. A delegation from Greece, including record national-team Futsal-player Lioutas Panagoitis gave the event an international flavour.
On Saturday afternoon, the Czech team played two test matches against selections of local players from the clubs Atus Fohnsdorf and ASKÖ St. Peter am Freienstein. The first was won by the Czechs 10:1, while the second match was more levelled and ended 4:2, which is a great result for the Austrian team, who was coached by Albert Vastic, brother of the Croatian national player Ivica Vastic.
The organisation would like to thank IVICA VASTIC MANAGEMENT, who arranged the participation of Albert Vastic.

Sven Vidojkovic Mobile: +49177 - 888 4450 E-mail: favoritepark@gmx.de
