South Africa's new indoor competition will officially be known as the National Futsal League, but is to kick off a month later than scheduled, in October.
This is due to the fact that Pietermaritzburg-based officials of the SA Indoor Football Association (SAIFA) have yet to conclude talks with potential sponsors and broadcasters.
"Basically, the sponsors want to know if they are going to get any mileage on television, so we are trying hard to finalise talks with e-tv and SABC," said SAIFA president, Poobie Govindasamy, yesterday in
confirming the name chosen for the 10-team league.
At present, the clubs are preparing for a series of inter-regional games that will serve as warm-ups for the national division.
Durban's representatives will be Thekwini City, while Maritzburg's flag will be carried by Msunduzi Eagles and Msunduzi Hotspurs.
Also in the mix will be Free State Warriors, Cape Town Titans, Cape Town Cavaliers, Mpumalanga Stars, Tswane City, Vaal United and Gauteng City.
