Zain sponsors FIFA approved Kuwait Mini World Futsal Club Tournament

Thursday, July 11 - 2013

Zain, the telecommunications company in Kuwait, announced its Premium sponsorship of the Kuwait Mini World Futsal Club Tournament; the first event of its kind to be hosted in Kuwait. The tournament, approved by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), commenced on 10 July 2013 and will last until 27 July 2013, and will witness the involvement of 18 international teams that include GCC teams.

Futsal is a variant of association football that is played on a smaller pitch and mainly played indoors. There are five players on each team, one of whom is the goalkeeper. The maximum number of substitutes allowed is nine, with unlimited substitutions during the match. Substitutes can come on even when the ball is in play.

Zain's sponsorship is aligned with its social responsibility strategy of supporting various recognizable sports events that highlight the capabilities of local Kuwaiti talents. The event will be largely covered by Kuwait's leading media channels as well as regional channels.

Commenting on the company's sponsorship, Waleed Al-Khashti Zain's Corporate Communications and Relations Manager said: "Zain has forever been a company that is committed to sponsor events that will support the advancement of our youths' sports skills, assisting them to eventually shine internationally. Zain proudly welcomes all futsal lovers across the nation to attend the tournament and be part of a first of its kind event in Kuwait".

Zain's well-focused social community strategy covers many aspects such as education, sports, youth, health and the society's wellbeing.
