FUTSAL COURSES FOR COACHES, REFEREES SET FOR TRINIDAD & TOBAGO, CUBA

6-11/10/2003 in Havana (Cuba)

As part of the FIFA GOAL Programme in the CONCACAF region, the Port of Spain Development Office is involved in the organization of two futsal courses for coaches and referees, in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago from 22-27 September and La Havana, Cuba from 6-11 October.

These courses are intended not only promote the long-term development of the game across the region, but to increase the number of national teams that will participate in next year’s CONCACAF qualifying for the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship in Chinese Taipei.

The FIFA Development Office will soon host two courses for futsal coaches and referees in the caribbean: 1) 22-27 september 2003 in port of spain, trinidad and tobago for english speakers, and 2) 6-11 october in la habana, cuba for spanish speakers. overall 18 national associations will participate in these courses.
FIFA will provide instructors of both courses: 1) Nico Spreij (coaching) and Perry Gautier (refereeing) in Port of Spain, and 2) Jose Venancio Lopez (coaching) and Pedro Galan (refereeing) in la Habana.
The main purposes of the courses are: 1) to promote the establishment of national association futsal programmes throughout the caribbean (and to strengthen them where they already exist), and 2) to increase (compared to 2000) the number of caribbean national selections that will participate in concacaf qualifying for the 2004 FIFA World Championship - Chinese Taipei 2004.
