Futsal Copa América (F): Lady Andrade sets the tone in Colombia

Lady Andrade, of Colombia, won the Women's Futsal Copa America. She has years of experience in football, both in futsal and soccer. She chatted with CONMEBOL.com and here we share with you some of her thoughts...

You started very young in Futsal, and then you participated in all three categories of national football in your country. She participated in the Futsal Copa America. A lot of experience for just a 23 year old! Tell us about this.

It's a long road. Every competition has helped me grow as an athlete. Every tournament has taught me something. Now I am more mature sports-wise, and also my mentality has changed after my participation in the World Cup.

The fans know you as the Princess of the Ball. How did that come about?

I read that first on social networks. They tell me because it is the way i dribble the ball. The nickname started in Colombia, after the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Let's talk futsal. How does it help you on the pitch?

Personally I think it has helped me one hundred percent. It has helped me with my skills. I like to be very technical, have the ball all the time and I think that is reflected on the pitch. On the big field you have time to think and picture the plays as they develop. It's a good thing for a youngster to first start out with futsal and then move on to the pitch.

What does Colombia have that other teams don't?

We have a lot of fun which spills out onto the field. We like to have the ball, play, have fun and we do that every game. The coach we have is very smart, he always knows how to game-plan and maximize our abilities. That is paramount to give us the results we want.
