sports-961.comLebanese Futsal Final – How did Mayadeen Blow Away a Second Advantage in the Series? In this year’s Lebanese futsal championship final, Bank of Beirut & Mayadeen gave the fans a final they will never forget, a final for the ages!
Indeed, in a best of 5 series, 5 games were required to determine a winner, with the 5th game being played over the course of 2 days due to problems that stopped it the first time.
Earlier in the series, we argued about how overconfidence had cost Mayadeen the first game at home and then how they should capitalize on the absence of Ali Tneish in the third game. The orange team took full advantage of the situation to bring the series down to 1-2 and then win the remaining 2 games, stripping Bank of Beirut from their crown.
But how did exactly Mayadeen achieve that? Let’s rewind a little to when we said a 2-0 lead would be a double edged sword for Bank of Beirut. It would either give them confidence or overconfidence and the the worse case scenario happened with them. They failed to end the series at home in the 4th game, which gave Mayadeen a huge boost that gifted them the championship. The regular season winners had their back against the wall, with only one option, win. They proved to handle the pressure better than Bank of Beirut and their title win was well deserved as they were not only the better team in the final, but in the regular season too!
Congratulations to Al Mayadeen and hard luck to Bank of Beirut, both teams proved that they are among the best in the region and the final could have went both ways. What matters now is next season, as a new team now has to defend the title while former champions are looking to chase it again!
