BAGUIO and Benguet based squads are off to another tough competition as the second Allianz National Youth Futsal Invitational (ANYFI) is officially on.
Featuring U-12, U-14 and U-16 age brackets for both boys and girls, the ANYFI kicks off with the local eliminations which started April 27 to May 13 in Baguio City including, Iloilo, Dipolog, Cebu, Naga, Metro Manila, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, and Bacolod.
The event was hatched by Allianz PNB Life Insurance Incorporated, in partnership with Henry V. Moran Foundation and in coordination with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
The ANYFI provides a venue for young Filipinos to showcase their talents and skills in football.
Young girls who share the same passion are also encouraged to join the event, where they will be vying for three slots for the Allianz Junior Football Camp in Thailand in July. Five male footballers will also be chosen from the tournament series.
The top teams in the qualifiers will progress into the regional finals from May 19 to May 27.
The champions in each regional meet will be competing with each other in the national finals scheduled on June 2 and 3 in Santa Cruz, Laguna.
Organizers said the camp speaks of Allianz's continued commitment to the promotion of the sport of football in the Philippines at a time were the sport is seeing a renaissance in a country that produced the likes of Paulino Alcantara, Eddie Pacheco, Phil Younghusband and Chieffy Caligdong.
