GUYANA FUTSAL TOURNAMENT COMMENCES;
PANAMA'S LIGA SUPERIOR FUTSAL REACHES SECOND ROUND PHASE


The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) national inter-club Futsal tournament commenced on 15 November at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown.

The opening matches featured Soesdyke Falcons defeating Determinators 4:2; Police blanking Houston Stars 7:0; BV/Triumph holding Monderlust to a 2:2; Santos drawing 3:3 against Uitvlugt Warriors; Western Tigers
downed Pouderoyen 4:3.

The GFF 32-team tournament continues this week with six more matches at the same venue, while in Panama the Liga Superior Futsal (LSF) has reached its second round phase this week with only 16 clubs remaining en route to the inaugural crown in 2003.

Under the supervision of Federación Panameña de Fútbol, the LSF will play all its respective two-game second round match-ups at the Gimnasio de la USMA in Ciudad de Panamá.

The first-legs of the series begin on Tuesday (18 November) with Mano de Piedra vs. Boca La Caja; Deportivo Macre vs. Calidonia; Betania vs. Real Unión; Deportivo Junior vs. Mateo Iturralde; and then conclude on Thursday (20 November) with Plaza Amador vs. Los Andes; Arsenal vs. Pacora; San Pancracio vs. Veranillo; Río Abajo vs. San Martín. The second legs encounters are scheduled for the 21 and 22 November.

From the GFF Futsal Tournament and the LSF, the respective Futsal teams of Guyana and Panama will be selected to compete in next year's CONCACAF qualifiers where a record 20 CONCACAF National Associations will compete in the preliminary rounds of the tournament for one of seven berths to the Final Round in Costa Rica that will advance two teams to the World Championship event to be hosted by Chinese Taipei.
