TRINIDAD & TOBAGO TO STAGE LOCAL FUTSAL TOURNAMENT

The Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) will host a Futsal Tournament throughout the country, beginning on 19 January in an effort to select the first-ever Futsal team to represent the twin island republic.

According to TTFF Vice President Raymond Tim Kee, some 30 teams have already expressed interest in taking part in the tournament, which will take place in the indoor facilities in various areas of the country.

Once the final Futsal team is selected, Trinidad & Tobago will compete
along side 11 other nations in the preliminary Caribbean qualifiers (to be completed by 30 April 2004) that will advance three into an eight-team CONCACAF Final Round in Costa Rica (to be completed by 30 July 2004), where two will earn the Confederation berths to the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship in Chinese Taipei.
