COSTA RICA BEGINS PREPARATIONS FOR FUTSAL QUALIFIERS

The preparations to defend their CONCACAF Futsal Championship, won four years ago has begun for Costa Rica as technical director Carlos Quiros has called in 22 players for training camp at the Gimnasio Nacional in San José, on 5 January.

The ticos, who have earned a bye into the eight-team CONCACAF Futsal Final Round Qualification in July as the host, have unveiled a tentative tour of games that will run from February - May 2004.

Costa Rica will travel to Spain for a pair of friendlies against the FIFA Futsal World Champions in Barcelona and Madrid. Then the ticos return to South America for a second consecutive year for tour that includes stops in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.

Quiros also confirmed that, Costa Rica is scheduled to host a two further friendly games against Puerto Rico and Colombia.
