25th National Australian Futsal Championship

Canberra 12th - 15th January 2004

Proudly hosted by the ACT Futsal Association

Champion State: ACT (1335 points)

NSW (SECOND 1250 POINTS)

The opening game of the 2004 National Futsal Championships saw the ACT 10 Boys Cobras comprehensively defeat the NSW Waratahs 7-1. Three days and 349 games later the ACT emerged victorious, soundly defeating the remaining Futsal states and retaining its 2003 Champion State crown by winning the National Australian Futsal Championships for the second consecutive year.

ACT bagged six Championships with category wins in the 10 Boys, 12 Boys, 15 Boys, Youth Men, 13 Girls, 14 Girls and 15 Girls. A further six ACT squads secured finals berths coming runners-up in the 11 Boys, 16 boys, Open Men, 12 Girls, 14 Girls, and Open Women (from 25 teams entered).

Congratulations to NSW yet again for their tenacious competition and a deserved second place - winning five categories (11 Boys, 16 Boys, Open Men, 12 Girls and Youth Women) with runners up in seven categories (13 Boys, 14 Boys, 15 Boys, Youth Men, 13 Girls, 15 Girls and 16 Girls from 25 teams entered). We have a real State of Origin situation immerging!

VICTORIA took home the 16 Girls Championship with runners up in the 10 Boys and Youth Women (from 13 teams entered).

SOUTH AUSTRALIA had an excellent result winning the 14 Boys Category (from 4 teams entered).

QUEENSLAND was disappointing again this year finishing with 530 points from their 30 teams entered with the 12 Boys (Nth Qld) and the Open Women Vikings being their only appearances in the finals. The Vikings won the category 3-1 from ACT. Nth Qld 12 Boys lost the final to ACT 4-3.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA sole entrant performed admirably against their match hardened eastern state opponents. Their win against the Qld Vikings in the Open Men's category was the highlight of their venture.

The highlight of the tournament for many was the flamboyant, energetic performances from the SOLOMON ISLANDS 13 Boys who entertained the huge crowds and came away with an impressive win in their age category defeating NSW 6-4 in the final.

ACT Futsal was proud to host this years Nationals and looks forward to the challenge of the 2005 Nationals where we will be vying for a Champion State hat-trick. The Board and Staff of ACT Futsal congratulate all our players, coaches, managers and supporters we are the best again!!!!!
