Second match in Dural

Japan was defeated by Australia
The second frendly match played in Dural surprisingly went to Australia. Gilligan's boys won with the score of 4-2. Both teams used a large squad of 15 players each.

Big turnaround: Australia defeats Japan by 4 - 2

A much more committed and aggressive Australian team denied their Japanese opponents any time and space on the ball and threatened the Japanese goal in many occasions with dangerous counter attacks.

Australia led 1 - 0 at half time with a goal from captain Brett Hewitt from a free kick that crept through the defensive wall and sneaked under the goalkeepers body.

Debutant, 16 year old David Ngaluafe gave the Aussies a 2 - 0 lead early in the second half. Australia increased their lead when Adrian Vizzare's 10 metre penalty conversion punished the Japanese defence for some reckless tackling.

A late goal by Osamu Nambada was nullified by a strike by Damian Pilat on the counter, and a penalty by Kenichiro Kogure with just seconds to go settled the 4 - 2 score line in favour of Australia

The Aussies celebrated their victory in front of another near full house at the Dural Sport & Leisure Centre while the Japanese team was left nursing some major injuries to a couple of players.

The series ended tied at 1 - 1. Both coaches from Japan and Australia would feel satisfied with the performances of their respective teams as they prepare for future matches in the AFC Futsal championships and the Oceania World Cup qualifiers respectively.
