QUEENSLAND FUTSAL NEWSLETTER MONDAY 25/11

QUEENSLAND FUTSAL AFFILIATE OF QSF

In another major breakthrough for Queensland Futsal , we were informed on Friday we are now a full affiliate of the Queensland Soccer Federation. As a full affiliate we become a full voting member and the LONE governing body of indoor soccer and futsal in the state of Queensland. Much thanks must go to Mr Paul Young, director of the QSF who was handed the portfolio of negotiating the affiliation six months ago. On top of Queensland Futsal's associate membership of Soccer Australia , this once and for cements our position as the only legitimate provider of the sport in Queensland.

TOWNSVILLE STADIUM GETS CLOSER

Also last week we received official notification that we are the selected tender to take over the Townsville Fit For Life Centre. That is the good news...the bad news is that the process will take a little longer and the council wish to negotiate terms different to what was tendered. We have been promised that all will be sorted out before Christmas.

SINGAPORE 5'S

Australia play their first game 3.00 pm Tuesday afternoon Singapore time. If you wish to follow the fixtures and results go to www.tiger5s.com . Marty Calvert from Townsville and Damian Conquest, our Brisbane Development officer, are over there with the squad. I'll hopefully have some results to put up next week.

BUFFALO CUP

My personal apologies to all over the handling of the BUFFALO CUP this week. I had not been informed they had been called off on Tuesday and thus was still talking to people re putting entries in. It won't happen again and as a lot of people know it is rare for me to call a competition.

STATE TITLES

if have late entries for the state titles get them in tomorrow. The tournament is played 1/2 of December and 8/9 December at Logan and Beenleigh.Age categories vary from 8 years to open for men and 12 to open for men and women.

STATE LEAGUE

I have no results from todays State League....I'll put them up next week.

INTERNATIONAL TOUR FOR WOMEN

We have this week arranged for an open womens team to attend a major overseas tournament next year. More next week.

SUNSHINE COAST BRAZIL COACH ON WAY

Eliney, the coach coming out from Brazil is set to arrive 10th December. This is a great initative by Sunshine Coast and hopefully will lead to more imported coaching in the future. Eliney will be here till 17th February and last visited Australia in 1995 as a member of the Brazil Futsal team.

SCHOOLIES OVER ?

Now schoolies is over i hope all our comps come back to normal.Logan lost around 10 teams last week and Mt Gravatt the same due to people going to the Gold Coast for schoolies...mind you I'm sure some of you left school five years ago.

THIS WEEKS HUMOUR

This week its pick on Uraguay week after the behaviour of their fans meeting the socceroos at the airport.

JOKE ONE

Two Uraguayan fans go to the lake and hire a small boat to go fishing. They settle in at a good spot and after an hour have reeled in over 50 fish.
Jose says to Alberto 'this is a good spot...we must mark it to remember where it is.'
'Good idea' says Alberto 'how about we throw this leaf in the water to makr where we are'
'Don't be silly' says Jose 'it will drift away.i have a better idea...lets mark an X on the side of the boat where we are catching lots of fish.'
'Don't be silly' says Alberto ' how can we be sure we'll get to hire the same boat next time?'

JOKE TWO

The goalkeeper for Uraguay can't take a trick at the moment . He decided he has had such a bad season letting in bad goals he would do away with himself .He went to downtown Montivededo and waited for the next bus to come along. As it flew down the street he raced out and threw himself in front of it. His luck kept up and it went through his legs.

JOKE THREE

Two Uraguayan fans went into Lygon street the other night after the game to try one of Melbournes famous restaurants. They come to WOODSTOCK ( my favourite in Melbourne) and see the sign outside OPEN 7 DAYS.

'This looks good' says Jose 'lets go in'

'No , be careful of these OZ restaurants' says Edwardo ' 'It's only been open 7 days...lets look for one where the chef has more experience.'
( ok...think about it)

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK
