The host Trinidad & Tobago won the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Preliminary Tournament after defeating Guyana in the final held at the UWI (University of the West Indies) Sports Complex in St. Augustine on Friday evening.
With both teams already advancing into the 2004 CONCACAF Final Round Qualification, Trinidad & Tobago played Guyana for the first-ever CFU Futsal title and posted a 5:0 victory in front of 1,300 spectators.
Kevin Peters scored twice, while Ako James, Colin Joseph and Marvin Lee all added another for the soca warriors in the win.
In the CFU Tournaments third-place match, Surinam claimed the final Caribbean berth to the CONCACAF Futsal Qualification with a 9:4 victory over Netherlands Antilles.
The three Caribbean representatives will join three qualifiers from the North/Central Preliminary Series, along with Cuba and the host Costa Rica, in the eight-team CONCACAF Final Round. This event will qualify two CONCACAF nations to the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship to be held in Chinese Taipei from 21 November - 5 December.

Surinam claimed the final CFU berth to the CONCACAF Futsal Qualification in Costa Rica, after finishing third at the Caribbean Preliminary Tournament at the UWI (University of the West Indies) Sports Complex in St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago on Friday evening.
Three goals by Winston Feller and two more each from C. Sama-an and Roberto Zebeda led Surinam to a 9:4 victory over Netherlands Antilles in the third-place match at the 2004 CFU Futsal Tournament, which was won by Trinidad & Tobago.
Surinam joins Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago as the CFU representatives at the 2004 CONCACAF Futsal Final Round in July.
