Futsal England
The Number of people playing futsal in England took a huge jump this month as the majority of the regional qualifiers for the National Futsal Championships kicked off across England.

The FA has chosen Futsal England, the corporate body dedicated to Futsal in England, to run and co-ordinate eleven of these leagues.

Growing Numbers

Most of the teams in the competition are new to Futsal , which is great news for the development of the sport in England as the number of individual players participating in the sport continues to rise. The regional competitions have allowed futsal to be introduced into areas of England where it had not previously been played such as Manchester, Birmingham, Derby, Bristol and Southampton meaning that as well as introducing the game to players and existing Football Referees it has also served to increase the awareness of the sport amongst the general public.

Good Standard of Futsal

All the leagues are producing teams that can play a good standard of futsal but out of the newly established leagues, London looks set to produce a team that could challenge current English Champions Sheffield Hallam with Baltic FC and Hanwell Town Youth looking the most likely candidates.

The more established leagues in Pendle (Santos), Grimsby (Street Soccer) and Wirral (Tranmere Victoria) could easily produce teams that could also challenge for the coveted title.
