Guangzhou won the first ever FIFA futsal league organized in
China.

Guangzhou Guowang futsal club is the champion with 64 points and the runner-up is the
Wuhan Dilong futsal club.
Chengdu Lummy futsal club finally got the 3rd place on the league table with 45 points.
In this round, Chengdu lummy beat Guangzhou guowang 3:2 in her first game. It is the first time that Chengdu has won its ultimate opponent during the whole league. Although Chengdu futsal got chances to win over the past 5 rounds, the penalties at the end of the second half helped Guangzhou several times escape the rout. The same three refs judged nearly all the 6 games between Chengdu and Guangzhou on the league. After the win over Guangzhou, the game with Wuhan was very critical to get the 2nd place for chengdu. However, Chengdu was defeated by Wuhan 1:6 on some controversial penalties once more. One of the Chengdu local newspapers was mocking in its match report as “ the referees stole our the second place in the league.” Fortunately, Chengdu futsal team won the other three games in the last round.
Both CFA and the Chengdu Lummy futsal have not renew the contract with the Brazilian coach Farinha, who made a history to Chinese futsal by bringing this team for the first among the best 8 teams to the quarter final in Asian qualifier for the World Futsal Championship 2004 after only one-month camp. China got wins over Malaysia and Guam and a draw with Asian futsal powerhouse Thailand. China was the 2nd place in the group on 2-goal difference with Thailand. China never won in the international futsal arenas before this tournament.
Farinha left Chengdu today back to his hometown Belo Horionte in Minas, Brazil. He will continue his job there as the physical education coordinator in Santo Antonio school.
The remaining 5 league futsal clubs are taking a short rest in the few days. They will take part in the FA Cup tournament with another 4 students futsal teams selected from the CUFL, the Chinese University Futsal League.
The head coach of the Chinese national team was replaced by the head coach of the Wuhan dilong futsal club, the runner up on the league. This team is preparing for the KL 5 in June.
