Victor Beceiro in London for talks with Futsal England

Snr Beiceiro’s, week long visit was as an immediate follow on to discussions with Spanish and Brazilian representatives and officials in Lisbon after the finals of the UEFA Futsal Cup in which they began to put together a strategy to take futsal on to the next level and sees amongst others Spain, Brazil and England as critical in this step.

Beceiro was keen to emphasise that the development of futsal throughout the world was about to be stepped up and that projects where already in progress that would soon allow the education of referees and coaches in countries where futsal was just being introduced.

"Futsal England are in my view one of the core partners to ensure the global expansion of this beautiful game. Having assisted them over the past years in the formation and development of their strategy to take futsal forward it was both encouraging and enlightening to see the growth and materialisation of futsal in England through their efforts".

"It’s reassuring that they have invested not only in grass roots expansion but also in education, highlighted by the quality of their officials that I had the pleasure of witnessing at some of their regional leagues". Beceiro had special praise for the way the leagues were organized, with good venues and standard of refereeing… "all contributing to a brilliant experience for players and spectators alike. It is important that the Futsal Experience is enough to keep teams coming back for more and that futsal is played in the environment where it can be most enjoyed".

"Now that England is finally being given the opportunity to see what futsal is and the benefits that it can bring and what a great game it is, there is no doubt that the popularity of futsal will grow and grow, as it is doing in the rest of the world."

This is a fantastic sport that will sell itself once people are given the opportunity to play and this will only happen through raising the profile of the sport. The team at Futsal England are currently involved in several key international projects that will be firstly aimed at raising world-wide profile and building upon the solid foundations established through years of passionately lead hard work throughout the world. Then secondly assisting in the provision of the necessary support services in terms of education of players, coaches and referees to support this growth.
