English Sports Minister will be in Sheffield

English Futsal
Sports Minister Richard Caborn will present the winning trophy at the FA National Futsal Finals in Sheffield.

The MP for Sheffield Central has agreed to attend the prestigious football tournament, which is being staged at the English Institute of Sport in Attercliffe, Sheffield on June 18-20.

Futsal is FIFA's official version of five-a-side and is played by hundreds of teams across the country. The winner of the finals will represent England in the 2005 UEFA Futsal Cup.

Caborn's attendance is a major coup for the Football Association, who are keen to develop further the awareness of the game.

Dermot Collins, the FA's Development Manager for small-sided football, said: "It is great news to have the Sports Minister attending the finals. Small-sided football is at the heart of sport participation in England and we hope the finals can capture the imagination of many people.

"Futsal is a fast and skilful game which provides a great way of developing technically gifted players. New Futsal teams are starting to emerge all over England and we believe the game will continue to grow as people get an opportunity to play or watch this exciting game."

Mr Caborn will attend the event on Sunday, June 20 to present trophies to the Plate and National competition winners.
