The Saints triumphant in Birmingham

The Saints, qualified as champions of the Birmingham Regional Qualifier, hosted by Futsal England. This group of talented lads have been participating in a sports training module under the direction of George Lawrence, of Southampton and Bournemouth fame.
Whilst, well versed in football skills, this was their first outing into the world of Futsal. They gelled together well as a team and adapted quickly to the rules and strictures of the game.
After a step learning curve they began to relax and seemed to be enjoying the experience. Futsal almost seemed to come naturally to many of the squad.
Some lovely individual skills where intermingled with intricate passing movements producing several spectacular goals.
‘This is an opportunity of a lifetime for these lads…and I have no doubt that they will do us proud. The work Futsal England is doing is pure ‘grassroots’… giving opportunities to all and reaching out to the disengaged sections of our community. Futsal is obviously a wonderful game and I hope we can contribute to its growth’.
