Egypt thrashes South Africa 11-1 in World Futsal qualifiers

Cairo, Egypt, 07/11 - Hosts Egypt have clobbered South Africa 11-1 in the qualifiers of the World Futsal Cup billed for next November in Taiwan.

Egypts goals on Friday were scored by Samir Seif (three), Khaled Mahmoud, Gehad Arafa, Mahmoud and Abdel Hakam (two), and Ekrami Ibrahim and Hossam Hassan (one).

Hassan, a football player, expressed satisfaction over his first participation in the game.

"It`s been a useful experience and I was happy to wear my country`s jersey," he said.

"It was a rather an easy tie. The event is not very popular in Africa, so competition will be confined between Egypt and Morocco," Coach Mohamed Abdel Rehim said.

"Luring the public is our aim in the next months. Therefore, we call on the services of great stars like Hossam Hassan, who are very popular," he added.

Egypt is gunning for the single African ticket to Taiwan.

The Pharaohs have featured twice in the World Cup in 1996 in Spain and in 2000 in Guatemala where they placed fifth and won the Africa League in the same years
