CONCACAF.comCONCACAF announce referees for 2004 Futsal Championship22/7/04: CONCACAF announced the 12 referees for the 2004 CONCACAF Futsal Championship from 23-31 July at the Palacio de los Deportes in Heredia, Costa Rica.
The eight-team CONCACAF event will qualify two nations to the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship, to be held in Chinese Taipei from 21 November – 5 December.
Mexico opens the competition in Group A against Trinidad & Tobago on Friday, 23 July at 18:00, while the host and defending champion, Costa Rica takes on Surinam at 20:00.
The USA begins Group B play when they face Panama on Saturday, 24 July at 18:00, while Cuba, which has qualified to the last two FIFA Futsal World Championships, meets Guyana at 20:00.
The top two teams in each group advance to the semifinals on 30 July, with the Group B winner taking on the Group A runner-up and the Group A winner facing the runner-up from Group B.
The semifinal losers will meet in the third-place game on 31 July, while the two finalists, who will also meet on 31 July, earn CONCACAF’s two berths to the FIFA event in Chinese Taipei.
