OFC Qualifiers in Canberra

First details coming from Canberra. In the first day matches Australia had an easy life against Solomon Islands, taking part for the first time in its history in a OFC tournament. Also Fiji and New Zealand won their respective matches, even if with more difficulties, against Vanuatu and Samoa.

NEW ZEALAND - VANUATU 4-2

Half time score was 1-0 to Vanuatu , but in the 5 minutes after half time New Zealand got 3 quick goals. Game looked sewn up till with 5.20 minutes to go New Zealand were fouled out and faced their first 10 metre penalty. Vanuatu pressed for the rest of the game and pulled one back with 1.13 remaining. Goals for New Zealand Al Saudi Bakr(2), Nathan Robertson(1) and Geoff Vilabourouth(1) and goals for Vanuatu Derek Malas(2)


FIJI - WESTERN SAMOA 4-0

Half time was 1-0 to Fiji and the game looked tight however as the game grew on, Samoa showed their lack of futsal experience and started chipping 'long' balls to find a goal. The bigger stronger Fijians then finished off 4-0. Hattrick to Fijian target Shalendra Lal and Ronald Lal (1).


AUSTRALIA - SOLOMONS ISLANDS 9-0

Half time was 6- 0 in a very powerful first half performance . In the second half Solomons adjusted to the pace a bit more and only let in 3. Final score 9-0.
A hard task for the Solomons meeting the favourites in their first game.Goals Damian Pilat(2), Ben Singleton(2) Scott Manson Andrew Nolan Danny Ngualufe Lachlan Wright all 1. and 1 own goal.
